The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) expert mission from the UNESCO Institute in Bonn, which took place in September 2003 to the Palestinian Territories reviewed the current institutional set up and challenges on the ground to implement the TVET strategy. During this mission an Informal Group on Technical and Vocational Education Training met for the first time with the UNESCO Ramallah Office acting as its Secretariat. Main stakeholders are the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), the Ministry of Labor (MOL), the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC), the World Bank (WB), International Labor Organization (ILO), United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and representatives of the donor community. Under the auspices of the sector working group of education the group will act as a forum for coordination and a technical body that would support the implementation of the various projects and the exchange of information. During the first meeting the group agreed to take stock of initiatives in the field of TVET, where information on the ongoing, completed and future projects of all the relevant stakeholders will be collected.
